Company - New Line Cinema

Funding and marketing a film takes alot of time and money, and a suitable studio is necessary to funding high budget features. if I were to create a feature length thriller extending from my opening I would approach the company "New Line CInema". "New Line Cinema" is an American production and distribution company, in its business relationships it became a business arm for Time Warner in 1996 and joined with studio Warner Brothers (one of the "big five") in 2008.

The reasons I think New Line CInema would fund/distribute my film, despite its noir/surrealist conventions is based on past projects it has funded and distributed, as my film pushes the boundaries of the Thriller genre, so has many of New Lines past projects, for example:

"Dark City" (1998, Alex Proyas) a Noir Thriller set in a bleak and surrealist view of an uncertain future, using elements of the Noir films of the 50s and challenging new concepts of Science Fiction to create a challenging and genre bending Thriller, at a budget of $27,000,000 it just about broke even with a gross of $27,200,316, but is excelling in current DVD sales and famous for its challenging ideas and themes.

"Se7en" (1995, David Fyncher) The most famous modern Noir Thriller was the debut of landmark Thriller director, David Funcher (famous for "Fight Club" and "Zodiac") The film used a stellar cast and a mood, dark urban setting combined with elements of psychological Thriller and Noir, it was hailed by the critics and has justly gained a huge cult following. It was also a Box Office smash with a budget of $33,000,000 and a box office gross of $316,400,000, earning Fynchers place as the most bankable and challenging Director to work with, every film he makes walking a tight rope between Mainstream cinema and Powerful Art House filmmaking. "Se7en" itself rejuvinated the Noir Thriller and made the careers of a young Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, including sky rocketing Kevin Spaceys career once more with his performance as the dark twisted ultra-modern serial killer to combat the aged ways of the modern policeman.

My film, "The Antiquarian" pushes the line of what a Thriller is as much as these twon films, both containing elements of mystery, noir and surrealism/psychological thriller, and that is why I think new Line would fund/distribute my film, because they are willing to take rsiks on Thrillers that dont abide by normal convention.
